March 2017 Calendar Page

Here's my calendar page for this month. As an added bonus...I've got a Tip-to-Tip Marker Blend Technique Tutorial over the Spectrum Noir Blog.

To make the 4-leaf clover and pot of gold, I used a heart die and pocket die from the Crafter's Companion Little Angel Signature Collection by Sara Davies - My First Outfit Die Set. This collection is baby themed, however I was able to use it for something totally different. I love stretching my supplies and using them in ways there weren't intended.

But wait! I have a double-bonus for you! An adorable 4-bar size note card.

I used the same heart and pocket die, and added in the shirt die

Here's a little story. Some of you might relate. When I was a kid, on St. Patrick's day we would go around look for someone who wasn't wearing green so we could pinched them!
LOL!

So the first thing that popped in my head when I was making a St. Patty's Day card was to WEAR GREEN to avoid the pinch! And there you have it. A shirt with a lucky 4-leaf clover on it.

The embossed detail on the shirt die really stands out by sponging on some Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. And the sequins.....BLING BLING! Love it!

Head on over to the Spectrum Noir Website and check out my Tip-to-Tip Marker Blend Tutorial. Thanks for stopping by today!

July 2016 Calendar Page

Hello friends. Just poppin' on here quick to share my July calendar page. Believe it or not...it was really hard to decide which stamp image I wanted to on this months page. Crafter's Companion has soooooo many fantastic patriotic stamp images! I went with the Patriotic Pride Stamp Set. It's packed full of stamps that can be used all year long. If you don't already have this set...go get it! I KNOW you'll love it.

I stamped using Salty Ocean and Festive Berries Distress Inks. That was easy...right ;)

For the stars, I made my own shimmery yellow cardstock by coloring a scrap of white cardstock with my Spectrum Noir Moonlight Sparkle Pen. After it dried, I die-cut 3 stars using the smallest star from the Superstars Die Set, which is part of Sara's Signature Collection Just For Men. I added glitter to the edges and popped up with dimensional foam adhesive.

This would make a fantastic card design. Just add whatever sentiment you like.

Thanks for stopping by today. Hugs to you all!

Felt Purse Tutorial

Hello friends! I've got a tutorial over on the Crafter's Companion USA Blog for this super fun Felt Purse.

I made it using the NEW Gemini electronic die-cutting and embossing machine that will make its debut on HSN Wednesday, July 6th with Sara Davies! This machine is awesome! It was designed for intricate dies as well as many other materials like heavyweight cardstock, vinyl, foil, and multiple layers of fabric - and is compatible with most thin metal dies and embossing folders.

All the dies used to make this purse come included in with the Gemini! SCORE!!! This project can be made for all sorts of occasions and holidays. Just change up the colors and embellishment shapes to match the theme. Use it as a gift bag or fill with goodies for a party favor! I'm sure you can think of a ton of different ideas.

Pop on over to Crafter's Companion Blog to check out my tutorial, and to get more info on the Gemini.

Thanks for stopping by!

June 2016 Calendar Page

It's June, and things are heating up outside! We're supposed to get up to 118 today!!! I think I'll stay inside and craft ;)

For my June calendar page, I created a wonderful little beach scene. Somewhere I would LOVE to be right now!

I colored the look of water and sand on the panel using Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens. Moonstone from the Perfect Pastels Set and Sand Dune from the Vintage Beach Set.

I used 3 different Crafter's Companion stamp sets. From the Sheena A Little Bit Scenic - Silhouette Highlands, I used the sandcastle. The umbrella is from Sheena A Little Bit Sketchy - Only Words - Through The Rain.  The sun is from Textures - Walls and Corner.

Designer Tip: Using partial images is a great way to get more bang for your buck with stamp sets. The umbrella image on this project is located on a large sentiment stamp from the Through The Rain set. It worked perfectly for this little beach scene!

To stamp the umbrella, I inked it up with Ranger Salty Ocean Distress Ink, and then colored over that with the Blue Topaz Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen. For the pole, I colored it on the stamp stamp with the Charcoal Spectrum Aqua Marker from the Essentials Set.

For the sandcastle, I inked it up with Antique Linen Distress Ink and then colored over that with a Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen in Sand Dune from the Vintage Beach Set. I inked the flag on the stamp using Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen in Solar Red from the Summer Time Set.

For the sun, I inked up first with Neon Electric Yellow Ink, then dabbed a bit of Neon Electric Orange ink, then colored over with Spectrum Noir Sparkle Moonlight from the Shades of Spring Set . To make the circle on the sun, I punched out circle from white cardstock and applied ink direct to paper with same neon orange and yellow inks. Then I brushed on Moonlight Sparkle Pen. The circle is adhered flat and trimmed.

I'm going to enjoy looking at this simple little summer beach scene for the entire month.

Summer hugs,

Gift Card Holder Tutorial

Hey hey my crafty friends! I've got a fun and EASY tutorial for this cool gift card holder over on the Crafter's Companion USA Blog.

Sometimes we struggle with making cards for the dudes, so I designed this project to work for them too!

BONUS IDEA!
Slip some cash or kids pictures in the pocket, instead of a gift card.

I love that "coffee cup stain" image! Head on over to the Crafter's Companion Blog to see the tutorial and give it a go!

Butterfly Lullaby Tealight Basket

Happy Monday friends! I've been sick for days. UUUGH! No fun. Today I'm finally feeling half normal. Whew! Enough of that...let's get to the good stuff. Some of the elements from the Butterfly Lullaby Signature Collection by Sara Davies have been released over at Crafter's Companion USA. This collection is absolutely beautiful!

Here's a tealight basket project I created using the Butterfly Lullaby Collection 12" x 12" Paper Pad...

The pad has 48 sheets. One side is patterned, the other side is white.

In each section of the basket, I put a glass votive stacked with 4 tealights wrapped in a clear cello bag. There's plenty of room in each section. The dividers could be left out, or you could just use 1 divider and have 2 sections - which would fit 2 mini loaves. You can even make a lid and turn it into a box. You get the idea. I'll be making more of these!

The tealight basket is one of the many projects included on The Ultimate Advanced Construction Techniques DVD.  Fun stuff!

April 2016 Calender Page

Hey there! Time to welcome in the new month with another calendar page.

Spring is a beautiful time of year here in Phoenix with all the flowers blooming. I decided my April page would represent a warm Spring day. I inked up the image from Crafter's Companion Sheena's A Little Bit Scenic - Silhouette Garden Set with a few pigment chalk inks. While the ink was still wet, I heat embossed with sparkly embossing powder.

The butterflies are diecut from Bebunni Floral Collection Butterfly and Bee Die Set. They are also embossed with the sparkly embossing powder. I popped them up with some foam adhesive and topped with black rhinestones.

TIP: To perfectly color match the butterflies, die-cut them from white cardstock and ink entire piece with same ink colors used for stamping.

Have a wonderful day!

March 2016 Calendar Page

Time to flip over the calendar! Here's my March page for 2016...

Bebunni sure looks cute peeking out from that Easter egg! I colored with my Spectrum Noir Markers:

  • Bunny - CR2, CR3, IG1, IG2, IG3, IG5
  • Bunny Nose - CR4
  • Egg - LY1, GB2
  • Grass - DG2, CG2
  • Sky - BT1
To make the cracked egg, I diecut an oval, then snipped into 2 pieces, colored and glittered. The grass is just a few flicks and dots with markers...and a touch of green and crystal glitter. The tiny aqua rhinestone gems look like little flowers. MAN do I love all things bling! :)

The stamp set I used is Bebunni - Peek-A-Boo from Crafter's Companion. I stamped and cut out the part of the image I needed. TIP: This is a great way to get more bang for your buck out of all those stamp sets! You'll be amazed at how versatile stamps can be by using partial images.

Check out all the fun Bebunni papercrafting products HERE. Adorable!

2016 Calendar

It's Calendar Time! Better late than never, right? LOL

So here's my new 2016 Calendar Project. Let's start with the cover...

I absolutely LOVE how this design came together! So much that I am going to use it for making a card! (stay tuned!)

I used Crafter's Companion Die'sire Classiques Only Words 1" Contemporary Numbers & Punctuation to die cut the year. As you can see, I used the negative of the die cut numbers, preserving the negative 0 and 6 centers and mounted to a white cardstock panel to create the year. It's all layered on top of the Die'sire - Nouveau Stamping Frame die.

The flowers are die cut from Bebunni Floral - Daisy die set. The sentiment stamp is from Sentimentals - Memories are Made stamp set.

Next up is January...
I know...it's done and gone. But you still wanna see it...right?

I decided on a fun little winter scene for the January page. The snowflake stamp is from a Bebunni Christmas Stamp Set - Rudolph. To create the cluster of houses and trees, I used the Nordic Christmas Stamp Set - Santa's Delivery. I stamped and colored, then trimmed out and cut apart and layered. I added crystal glitter for a bit of "snow sparkle" - applied with a glue pen.

Spectrum Noir Markers used for coloring:
BG1, BG3, CT4, CG2, DG2, DG3, DG4, GB8, GB9, GB10, DR5, DR6, DR7, Blender

And here's February...

The Sheena Xmas - Heartfelt Wishes stamp set is great for more than just Christmas! I love using my holiday stamp sets for more than the holiday they were intended for. No reason to let 'em sit around collecting dust all year...right? ;) LOL

I used 1 sentiment stamp from Sentimentals - Love is all you need stamp set, stamping part of it in each heart.

Spectrum Noir Markers used for coloring:
  • Pink Heart - PP1, PP2
  • Red Heart - CR5, DR3, DR5

Make sure to check back later this month for my March page.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Butterfly Pops

Hello everyone! It's time to get those Valentine's goodies created. These Butterfly Pops are great for a quick and easy way to pass out those Valentines! Easy for the kids to help and put together assembly-line style!

While thinking about my design, I kept in mind that whoever received these treats are going to head straight for the candy. So, keeping it quick and simple was a must.

Here's how:
  1. Die-cut Butterflies from White Pearl Shimmering Cardstock.
  2. Trim strips of Pink Pearl Shimmering Cardstock. Stamp LOVE sentiment with red pigment ink on pink cardstock strips, then heat emboss with red glitter embossing powder. Trim ends with decorative scissors.
  3. Place sucker on top of butterfly. Thread ribbon from behind the butterfly, through the wing holes, and bring round the front of sucker. Secure by tying a knot and/or bow.
  4. Add rhinestone sticker on top of bow.
  5. Adhere sentiment tag to stick.

TIPS: To personalize each treat, write on the back of each sentiment tag before adhering to the stick. You can also use fun pencils in place of the suckers!

Wouldn't these make a great party favor?! Change up the colors and sentiments for variety.

Happy crafting!
