Happy Haunting

Hello friends,

I've got a really REALLY COOL way to make a window card. It's super easy AND gives you more ways to use those Create-A-Card Bases Dies and Edge'ables Dies from Crafter's Companion. The complete tutorial is over on the Crafter's Companion website.

This card turned out even better than I had imagined.  I love when that happens :) Can you believe this was all done using only white cardstock?! YEP! Distress ink blending, along with coloring the images with Spectrum Noir Colourblend Pencils is all that was done. Pencil colors used: Pewter, Black, Taupe, Sage, Avocado, Pear Green, Jade, Peach, Cream, Saddle Brown, Pumpkin, Nectarine, Velvet, Blackberry.

I also want to point out how you can use non-holiday dies on a holiday themed project to get even more use out of them. The Edge'ables - Classic Chandelier die set works perfectly for this Halloween theme. Or how about using the Classic Wedding Bells Edge'ables die set for a fantastic Christmas theme.

To make the bats, I stamped the bat that is on top of the spooky martini stamp.  Then I colored and fussy cut them out. I also added a touch of micro-fine black glitter on the bats & sentiment letters.

Check out my tutorial over on the Crafter's Companion USA Blog HERE.

Coloring a Witches Hat

I've been having tons of fun coloring and creating with Halloween stamps lately. Here's one I made using stamps from Eat Cake Graphics.

Isn't that witch a hoot?!!! Hazel the witch is getting her boogie on, but I wonder what she is out collecting in that pumpkin? Hopefully some yummy candy! LOL To color the witch's hat, and give it creases and folds, I followed a tutorial over on the Spectrum Noir Blog. You can find the tutorial HERE.

I colored most of the images with Spectrum Noir Markers. The grass is stamped by coloring Bud Green and Moss Spectrum Aqua Markers colored directly on the stamp. Then I did a quick watercolor wash to blend it out. Hazels dress has tiny dots all over it, which I added with a black micron pen. To give her glasses some dimension, I colored over with a Versamark marker and heat embossed clear. I cut out a few of tombstones and popped up for a bit for dimension. Then I stamped the full Graveyard image a few times on the card base for a tone-on-tone look. The sentiment is heat embossed.

Here's the Spectrum Noir Markers I colored with:
Hat & Shoes - IG1, IG9, IG4
Skin - EB1, EB2, IG3, FS3
Hair - GG1, GG5, Black
Dress - PL2, PL4, PL1
Glasses - OR2, IG9
Pumpkin - OR1, OR2, OR3, GB4, CT4, CG3
Tombstones - GG1, GG2

October 2016 Calendar Page

Hello Crafty Friends!

Here's my calender page for this month. It turned out sooooo CUTE!

EEEK! I love it!!! I used the Crafter's Companion Halloween Trick or Treating Stamp set.

These little trick or treater kids can be used all year long. They would be fun on birthday cards and all sorts of other occasions. I stamped, colored and fussy cut the cute little witch. She is popped up with dimensional foam. The web image is stamped and embossed with Holographic embossing powder. Super sparkly!

To make the black rhinestone stars, I colored crystal stars with the Black Spectrum Noir Marker. The images are colored with Spectrum Noir Markers and Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens as follows:

Spectrum Noir Markers:
Skin - FS2, FS7, TN2, CR3
Black areas - IG1, IG3, IG5, IG7, IG9
Dress - PL1, PL4, BG6, CT4, OR2, CG3, CG4
Moon - CT2, CT4, GB6
Spider Eyes - CT4
Rhinestone Stars - Black

Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens:
Moon and Spider Eyes - Moonlight
Shoes, Hat, Wand Stick, Kitty Whiskers - Crystal Clear

I stamped the spider on the page and used a fine tip black marker to extend the web line to the top of the page. Then I stamped the spider again, colored and cut out just the body. If you look real close, you can see the eyes are shinny. I used a Versamark Ink Marker to color in and heat set with clear embossing powder.

Just Be-gauze

Happy Halloween!

Here's a card that can be used for anytime of the year.

This adorable mummy stamp is from My Favorite Things. I colored using an amazing coloring tutorial I found over on the Spectrum Noir Blog called "Sepia Coloring." It's one of the many great tutorials we have available, showing how to use your Spectrum Noir coloring products.

I colored using Spectrum Noir Marker colors as listed in the tutorial

  • Skin - TN3, TN2, TN1, FS2
  • Hair - EB5, EB4, TN5, TN3
  • Mummy Gauze - GB8, EB2, EB1, Blender

I diecut the image, and also diecut another using a dark grey cardstock. I adhered the image to the "shadow" diecut with foam tape. FUN! The strips on the card base are diecut using My Favorite Things Washi Tape Dies and then sponged with Antique Linen Distress Ink.

That's it for today. Time to go pass have some Halloween Fun with the kids!

Color Burst Skully Flowers

Hellooooooo crafters! Happy Halloween Eve :) Today I have a card featured over on the Eat Cake Graphics Blog. Check it...

The Skully Flowers stamp is a MUST HAVE in your collection! It can be used as a focal image - like I did on my card - or part of a scenery. You could also stamp it in a line to create a fun border. But check this out...ink up only the grass parts for an all-purpose grass or flower image! Using stamps for more than they were meant for gives you extra bang for your buck. I love using stamps like that.

I was super excited to play with my new Color Bursts from Ken Oliver Crafts. It was so easy to created a bright yellow and orange watercolor background for my Halloween card. After the watercolor panel was completely dry, I diecut and trimmed a scalloped frame.

I stamped in black and clear heat embossed for added texture and shine. The sentiment stamp actually says "Witching You A Very Happy Halloween" - but I only inked up the “Happy Halloween” portion.  Yet again, another way to get more bang for my buck using 1 stamp. I embellished with a few diecut glitter stars, orange rhinestones and a wrap of black twine.

Here's a card I dug up from last year.

See how I used the same 2 stamps in a completely different way. The Witching You (text) sentiment is stamped repeatedly to create a fun background pattern. The Skully Flowers image is stamped across the bottom of the orange panel, creating a fun tone-on-tone background scene. Super easy! No patterned paper needed for this card. (Click HERE to see last years blog post.)

(S)hop on over to the Eat Cake Graphics website and check out all the fantastic stamps. Oh my gosh...I want them ALL! And don't forget to visit the "A Sprinkling of Samples and Techniques" blog for TONS of inspiration.

Hello friends. Today is another new challenge over at Fresh Brewed Designs.  Our theme this week is "Spiders".

I just love this Halloween "to go coffee cup" digi image. It's called BOO! Spooky Latte. It fit the challenge perfectly since it has a spider on it.

Happy Halloweenie!

Are you ready for a fun Halloween adventure? Hazel the witch is!

Isn't she awesome! She has her pumpkin and is ready for a Happy Halloweenie! I used a sentiment stamp with Radiant Neon Electric Purple ink to create the pattern on a white card base. Then, on the orange cardstock panel, I've stamped some trees and skull grass with VersaMark. The coloring is done with Spectrum Noir Markers:
  • Skin - FS2, FS4, TN2, CR3
  • Hair - HB1, PL4
  • Hat, Dress, Shoes - IG1, IG8
  • Socks - CG1, CG3, GB1, GB3, GB5, IG1, IG8

If you look closely, you can see I colored her glasses and the pumpkin eyes and nose with a clear glaze pen. The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed with white embossing powder. The 3 gems on the pumpkin are colored with a green Spectrum Noir marker.

These are the stamps I used to make my card:

Hazel the Witch Boogies!

YAY! Another fun Halloween card! Check it out...

Hazel must LOVE her coffee!

I colored these Eat Cake Graphics images with my Spectrum Noir Blendable Colored Pencils. So easy. No fuss.

First thing I did was stamp Hazel Witch Boogies and Happy Halloweenie on white cardstock. Then I outlined the witch using IG1 Spectrum Noir Marker. To soften up the edges of the marker a bit, I colored lightly with the Blender Pen right on the edge of the grey.

Next, I colored the witch using Spectrum Noir Colored Pencils with Blending Solution and Paper Stumps as follows:

  • Purple areas - 080 and 082
  • Green areas - 056 and 058
  • Orange areas - 02
  • Black areas - 120

The Witches Brew coffee cups were stamped, colored, fussy cut and adhered with foam adhesive. For sparkle, I painted areas with Sparkle Sheer Shimmer Spritz.

TIP: After cutting out the images, color the edged with your black pencil or a black marker. That finishes off the pieces so you don't see the white cardstock edges.

The little bats are punched from black cardstock and have a little black rhinestone on top. Along the bottom of the panel is a strip of green striped washi tape and a sheer ribbon wrapped around and tied in a knot.

Happy coloring!

Peter Pumpkin

Yep...you guessed it! Another Halloween card :) But seriously...how can you NOT create with these adorable stamps from Eat Cake Grapics?!  I mean...really!

There's nothing sweeter than this little trick or treater!

Peter Pumpkin is ready to gather a bag full of Halloween treats.

I stamped Peter Pumpkin on watercolor paper using Watering Can Archival Ink. It's a nice shade of grey. Then I watercolored the image with Inktense Watercolor Pencils. Didn't it turn out adorable!?!

The card base is kraft cardstock stamped with the Eat Cake Graphics Pumpkin Background using Saffron Archival Ink - then shaded with Watercolor Pencils. The edged are sponged with Scattered Straw and Vintage Photo Distress Inks. Grey Jute rope tied around the card and a couple orange gems completed the card. I just love it!

Eat Cake Graphics Stamps used:
1080-E Peter Pumpkin; 9064-K Pumpkin Background

I'm entering my card to this week's Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge - Watercoloring. YAY! I love watercoloring!

House Mouse and Friends Monday Challenge

Buttons?  Check!
Bows?  Check!

Well then...I'm ready to play the House-Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge #180!

Our challenge this time is to use Buttons and Bows. I'm SURE you have PLENTY of those...right?  Click HERE to get all the challenge and prize details on our blog.

YES...I did ANOTHER Halloween card! LOL! Don't worry...it will end soon...maybe...

I think these stamps are just adorable! Those mice are as cute as can be in their candy corn costumes.

I stamped and embossed the image and sentiment on the smooth side of Ranger Watercolor Cardstock. The ink I used was Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black. That ink ROCKS! Especially for embossing!  Then I watercolored with my set of Kuretake watercolor paints.  The little candy corn is stamped with VersaMark ink on the orange card base.

The big yellow button tied with a black twine bow worked perfectly.

On the inside...

I hope you join us for this challenge. We love seeing all those House-Mouse stamps being loved :)

Have fun!
