September 2016 Calendar Page

Happy Friday friends!

I've been so busy with EVERYTHING lately. How about you? I finally got a chance to get this months calendar page posted for you to see. Check it...

Since most schools are back in session by September, I decided this page would be encouragement to achieve. I'm loving how it turned out! Here's how I made it:

  1. Stamp image from Textures - Journal Jotting stamp set, using Chipped Saphire Distress Ink.
  2. Stamp sentiment from Sentimentals - Ornate stamp set, using Fired Brick Distress Ink.
  3. Stamp images from Sentimentals - Ornate stamp set, using Scattered Straw Distress Ink. Add Yellow stickles glitter glue to some of the stamped areas. Set aside to dry.
  4. Die-cut the small bird and wing from Just For Men Paper Pad Brights Collection. Use GB4 Spectrum Noir Marker color in the stars on the wing piece.
  5. Sponge Chipped Saphire ink around edges of wing, and Fired Brick ink around edged of bird.
  6. Adhere wing and rhinestone to bird body. Attach bird to calendar page using dimensional foam tape.

Isn't it great how you can "Achieve" a fantastic little design with just a few stamps, dies and inks? You could used this design for a card front too!

Be Beautiful!

Hello friends! How is your summer going? My daughter just started back to school on this week. I can't believe how fast the summer vacation went!

Today I've got another Verity Rose project to share with you. This new paper crafting collection from Crafter's Companion is super fun to create with. All the coordinating products makes designing a card, or any other project, so easy! This card project features "Starlet".  She is stylish, alluring and glamorous. She likes the movies, showbiz, sparkles and wearing shoes that glitter. She is one sophisticated little lady!

All the images are from the Coloring Pad. I did all my coloring with Spectrum Noir Markers and Sparkle Pens. To help me with selecting colors for her hair, I went right over to the Spectrum Noir Blog and searched for "hair color combinations". No need to figure it out when someone else did the work already.

  • Black Hair Colors - IG3, IG5, IG8, IG10, Black Sparkle Pen
  • Eyes - IG1, TB1, BT2
  • Eyelashes - Clear and Black Sparkle Pens
  • Lips - DR5, Clear Sparkle Pen
  • Skin - FS2, FS3, TN2, CR3
  • Dress & headband feather - IG1, IG2, Clear Sparkle Pen
  • Golden Color - GB1, GB4, GB7, Spun Gold and Clear Sparkle Pens
  • Flower - CR5, CR8, DR5, Solar Red Sparkle Pen
  • Leaves - DG2, DG4, GG2
  • Fox - TN1, TN4, TN9, TB1, IG1
  • Camera - IG1, IG3, IG4, IG8, IG10, Clear and Black

Here you can see some of the amazing shimmer from the Sparkle Pens. I added dimensional glaze on the the camera, and on the big round headpiece gem.

Scarlet has a little fox friend...who is peeking out from behind the camera and a beautiful rose (which is her favorite flower).  The sentiment is framed from the Verity Rose Official Frame Die, which I die-cut from Shimmering Yellow Pearl Cardstock. The yellow strip down the side of the main image panel is also from the shimmering cardstock. I used the Verity Rose Ribbon Border Die. A great way to use the die...having only a bit of it poking out.

Have a beautiful day full of sparkle and style!

Sweet Treats Cube Tutorial

Hi there! I've got a tutorial over on the Crafter's Companion USA Blog for these super EASY treat boxes. They're so fun to make...and can be designed for any occasion.

The finished cube is 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" - perfect size to hold a Lindt Lindor Chocolate Truffle. These would make wonderful party favors! You can easily make 3 cubes from one 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of cardstock.

I used Crafter's Companion Shimmering Cardstock for all the pieces. This heavyweight cardstock not only has a beautiful shimmery finish on BOTH sides..but it makes the most STURDY 3D projects -- and is da'bomb for die cutting!

Step-by-step instructions to make this project are over on the Crafter's Companion USA Blog. I hope you hop to check it out and give it a try.

Happy Crafting!

NEW O' Holy Night Edge'able

YAY! More NEW Edg'ables over at Crafter's Companion USA! Christmas goodies galore. I'm totally lovin' all the wonderful new products CCUSA has been releasing - especially all the dies.

Here's a card I made using the NEW Die'sire Edge'ables Christmas Only Words - O' Holy Night die

Using white cardstock, I die-cut and embossed the word border die. To add the black embossed areas, I left the paper in the die and colored them with a VersaMark Marker, Next, I went over the same areas with a Memento Tuxedo Black Marker, then carefully removed the paper from the die, sprinkled on the clear embossing powder and heat set.

This new word border die works together perfectly with the O' Holy Night Create-A-Card die from the new Die'sire Create-A-Card Christmas Collection. The sentiment is stamped and embossed on a die-cut star with crushed glass glitter around the edges.

Using Kraft Cardstock, I die-cut and embossed the CAC die twice from. With the die left in place, I used it as a stencil to apply the white ink. The ink really brings out the details of embossed areas.  On one of the panels, I cut the off trees and arch, then popped up that piece with foam adhesive tape on top of the full cut out piece. The Edge'ables border is popped up on top of all that, with crushed glass glitter underneath.

The card base is black cardstock sprayed with Sheer Shimmer Spritz. The stamped rays, from the Textures Artist Collection - Walls and Corners stamp set, are embossed with Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder. I die-cutting some stars using the CAC die and Gold Dust Shimmering Cardstock. Three of the stars are adhered over baby Jesus, 4 more are at the top of the card.

Inside the card, I stamped the rays with Desert Sand Memento dye ink. The sentiment is stamped and embossed. The angel is a die-cut from the CAC die using the Gold Dust Shimmering Cardstock, then embossed with Liquid Platinum EP.  I really love how this card turned out.

Die'sire Prestige Only Words Christmas Dies

Die'sire Prestige Only Words Metal Dies from Crafter's Companion USA create beautiful die-cut and embossed elements. Well guess what! They just released MORE of these fantastic dies for Christmas! YAY! The NEW Prestige Only Words Christmas Dies are perfect for Christmas card designs and projects.

Here's a card I made using the new JOY die, along with another new die that was recently released - the Edge'ables Christmas Fancy Borders Snowflake Die.

It's hard to capture the great shimmer and shine from the embossing glitter on the Joy die, but it's there.

BONUS! You can use the Joy die beyond Christmas projects. Simply layer a solid circle on top to cover "joy" and you can use it for any occasion. Or you could cut off the "joy" leaving a nice open area for a stamped image, shaker card, photograph, etc.

I backed the center of the JOY die with a circle of the NEW Forest Green Shimmering Cardstock. I used the same cardstock to die-cut & emboss the NEW Snowflake Edge'ables Die - and made the top-fold notecard from it as well. The brown snowflake paper is printed from the Nordic Christmas Papercrafting CDROM. It's great because you can print as much as you need!

I carried the design through to the inside of the card, adding a stamped and glitter embossed sentiment from the Vintage Christmas Collection Sentimentals - Home for Christmas Stamp Set that paired perfectly with the theme. The snowflakes were die-cut from the border die using scraps, then cut away from the border to make single pieces.

This card really feels and looks luxurious. The Shimmering Cardstock is smooth and heavyweight, and makes the best die-cut and embossed pieces. You really must try this cardstock for die-cutting and embossing.

Check out all the great new Prestige Christmas Words Only Dies along with all the other new products over on the Crafter's Companion USA website.

Happy Crafting,

Bebunni Daisy Dies

Happy Friday!

I have a crafty confession. I save cardstock scraps. LOTS of them. I even have them sorted out in zip lock baggies by color family! Yep, paper scrap hoarder Lori. One of my friends (you know who you are) is NOT a scrap saver. When we craft together, I snatch up her scraps as fast as she tosses them in the little trash bucket! Can you imagine?! LOL! I just can't let good cardstock got to waste. Actually, my friend would tell you it's not just paper scraps that I save. But that's another story for another day ;)

Here's a card I made using the Bebunni Floral Daisy Dies from Crafter's Companion to die-cut these small flowers. A great way to use up perfectly good scraps of colored cardstock.

These little daisy flowers are so cute! I just love the embossing detail. I die-cut out several of each size and color and popped them up with foam adhesive. The stems are drawn with a fine line black marker. I happened to use the Black Spectrum Aqua Marker. So clean and simple.

The sentiment is from Sentimentals Everyday stamp set - Memories are Made. I diecut the tag using Die'sire Decorative Dies - Scalloped Tags set. It's popped up with foam adhesive and tied with lime green twine from May Arts. Two little orange rhinestones added on the ends for some bling-bling.

What's YOUR crafty confession?

Leave a comment on this post. I would love to hear about it!

Enjoy your day,

Hey everyone! Did you happen to see all the NEW Create-A-Card A2 Size Dies from Crafter's Companion USA? They are soooo cool! Here's a card project I designed using the Adore Die.

Is that cool or WHAT?! So many ways you can design with these dies. The entire front of this A2 cardbase is diecut and embossed with the die.

On the inside, I added a panel that is waterecolored with Spectrum Aqua Markers. The sentiment, from Sentimentals Memories are Made, is stamped and embossed.

I also added the Delicate Butterfly die-cut to the front and crystal glitter around the edge of the big heart.

NEW Crafter's Companion Mediterranean Window Die

Hi! Today Crafter's Companion USA is releasing a NEW Die'sire Spring/Summer Die Collection.  Just wait till you see all these wonderful  dies!

Today I'm sharing the new Mediterranean Window Die. It comes with 2 dies - the window and the flower box. I used both on my card, but you can create with them individually.

I reeeeealllly love how this turned out! Best of all - YOU can make quick. The receiver of this card will think you spent hours on it!

The window is die-cut and embossed. I adhered a panel of vellum behind the window only (not the shutters). Before I attached the window with foam tape to the blue cardstock panel, I adhered a die-cut heart flat down on the blue cardstock. I just held the window over where I wanted it to go to eyeball where to put the heart.

For the flower box, I die-cut the piece 2 times. On the first one I sponged green and red inks to shade the flowers. Then I colored the flower centers with a white gel pen. Then I added crystal glitter on all the flowers. For the 2nd die-cut piece, I cut off all the flowers and layered it on top of the first piece with foam tape. Then the entire piece is adhered to the bottom of the window.

The sentiment is stamped on kraft cardstock, then cut down to make into 2 pieces. Both pieces are adhered flat. The larger heart is popped up with foam tape. The 2 tiny hearts are glued flat. That's pretty much it. You can change up the colors, use stars or flowers instead of hearts, or any other fun ideas you have. I can't wait to make some Halloween and Christmas themed "window" cards!

Check out all the NEW Spring/Summer dies on the Crafter's Companion USA website HERE.

Happiness is a Watercolor Block Background

I've been creating and having so much fun my new Spectrum Aqua Markers. This is probably one of my favorites...

I used markers from the Primary, Floral and Nature sets. (Teal, Sea Green, Sunflower, Marigold, Rose Pink) Simply color the marker on a clear stamping block, mist with water and the press the block on watercolor cardstock. Allow each color to dry, before moving to the next layer and color.

Once all the ink was completely dry, I stamped a greeting and heat emboss in white. This stamp is from a wonderful Crafter's Companion stamp set called Sentimentals Memories are Made.

This card is EXTRA special to me because it's traveling around the world. Yep...it's been on the internet, on TV, and on display at craft shows. Cool huh?!! Here's a pic that the fabulous Nicky Hayden from our Spectrum Noir Design Team took while she was at a show at The NEC Birmingham in England:

Fun stuff! I have a bunch more to share in the days ahead...so stay tuned.

Enjoy your life

Happy New Year!
Time for a new challenge over at Crafter's Companion USA! Let's get busy...shall we :)

Create a card or project with a Shabby Chic or Vintage theme - the focal image, as an embellishment, on your patterned paper, make a gift for someone, make a set of cards - any way you interpret the challenge!

I took a panel of ivory cardstock and stamped some flowers from the stamps set - Sheena A Little Bit Sketchy - A New Leaf.  I colored very lightly some of the images with Spectrum Noir Colored Pencils 034 and 087. Then I embossed the panel with 6" x 6" Regal Damask Embossing Folder. I sponged distress ink around the panel edges and on top of the raised embossed areas.

I used Circle Doilies to cut and emboss a pink doily from Pink Pearl Shimmering Cardstock. A little distress ink is sponged on it. In the closeup pics, you can see the beautiful shimmer of the pink shimmering cardstock. It diecuts and embosses beautifully!

The heart is cut from the Hearts Die set, stamped with a sentiment from the Sentimentals - Memories are Made and sponged with distress ink around the edges. I also machine stitched on the heart. The sentiment is from the same stamp set.  The flowers are stamped with Old Olive Distress Ink and colored with the SN pencils.

I used Pink Pearl Shimmering Cardstock to create the ruffled panel that I machine stitched to the bottom of the ivory panel. Then I sponged on some distress. I added a couple pieces of ribbon and adhered the entire panel to a kraft carstock panel. Before adhering the piece to the card front, I stamped the little corner image with Crushed Olive Distress Ink.I hope you can join us for this months challenge. Have fun!

Candy Cane Stripes

This is one of my favorite card designs!

The bold red "candy cane" panel was soooo easy to make! I created it using my eBrush and 1 Spectrum Noir Marker. I've got a tutorial on how to create Candy Cane Stripes over on the Spectrum Noir Blog HERE.  I'd love for you to pop on over and check it out.

And check out the cool chalkboard effect! The stamp is from Crafter's Companion Vintage Christmas Collection Sentimentals Friends and Family Set. The chalkboard cardstock is diecut & embossed from Die'sire Rectangles Die Set. The green label behind it was die-cut and embossed from green cardstock using the Die'sire Scalloped Tag Die set.

Have a Merry Day!

Aren't these FUN?! You could totally do this for any occasion or holiday!

Here's how I made these projects:

Step 1: Die-cut Cupcake Insert using colored cardstock.

Step 2: Stamp sentiment with VersaMark ink.

Step 3: Cover with embossing powder. Tap off excess.

Step 4: Melt embossing powder with heat tool.

Step 5: Punch holes on both ends as shown. NOTE: The size of hole puncher needed will depend on the size of straws, candy canes etc.

Step 6: Adhere bows and sequins.

To create a banner, by simply string twine through one hole to another.

These would also make wonderful hanging tags or streamers!
