Mystery Hostess

Pocket Card Challenge for A-MUSE-A-PALOOZA

This A-MUSE-A-PALOOZA challenge was to make a pocket card. It needed to be square (4.25x4.25) or 4-bar (3.5x5) and feature at least one (1) A Muse stamp image.

See all the info on this Challenge HERE.

I made mine 3 1/2" x 5". Folded over one edge and stamped the coffee beans then cut around them. I don't think I will ever get tired of using my coffee stamp sets :) This pocket card was really easy! First time for me and I'll for sure do more. Geeta shows how to make them on her post for the challenge.

The To Go cup is stamped with brown ink on white cs and colored in with Prismacolor Markers (Cream & Wheat). I drew by hand the circle around the coffee bean on the cup with a Green Tea Prismacolor Marker. I cut out the cup and it's popped up on dimensionals. I used a sponge dauber toink around all the edges with brown. The pull out holds a gift card. This card fits in a normal invitation size envelope! Perfect for mailing :)

2-Sketch Challenge!

A-Muse-A-Palooza Challenge #4

This A-Muse-A-Palooza challenge is by Tish. She gave us 2 Sketches for this Challenge. I love doing challenges because they give you a starting point for making a card. Usually when I see a sketch I'll immediately think of a stamp that I want to use. The part that takes me the longest is picking out paper and colors!!

Sketch 1 Card

The black and white strip is a piece of ribbon. I don't know if you can see it...but I put clouds in the sky with a new cloud stencil set I got from Great Impressions. (click the pic to zoom in) I used SU Bashful Blue ink to sponge for the clouds. The stencils work really good! Main image is popped up on dimensionals. Head light and Tail light is colored in with Red Copic Spica Glitter Pen. This card is 5 x 5.

Sketch 2 Card

Since it's almost 4th of July...I used Red, White and Blue for my colors. I love how bright & fresh these colors look! The main image is up on dimensionals. This card is 3 1/2 x 5. Isn't this one SO CUTE!!

Charlotte's Web

Itsy Bitsy Spiders Went Up The Water Spout...

...down came the BUG SPRAY and washed the spiders out!

I'm SO TIRED of BUGS!!! The other day I was watering out back...and when I went to reel the hose back up...I found a wonderful little surprise waiting for me!!

Wanna know how I found them?? I stuck my HAND in the side of the WEB! AACCKKK!!!!! They started wiggling all over the place!! Like MILLIONS of them!! I FREAKED!! I had Michaela run get the camera while I got the bug spray. After I took a few pictures...I gave them a nice cool shower of Home Defense! HA! Take THAT! (Sorry Charlotte)

I have no idea what kind of spiders they are...but they were TINY TINY! I think they were babies that must have just hatched...or whatever spiders do when they are born!

Bees, tomato worms, spiders, scorpions (haven't seen one in a while thank goodness!), white flies and ants are all driving me crazy! Oh the stories I have about all those bugs. Did I ever mention the wonderful roaches that come out at night! Not inside my house...outside! Yep...taking the trash out in the evening...turn on the back light and you see them running! They are nasty sneaky bugs! I'll never get used to the Arizona Wildlife!

More Birthday Fishes

Happy Little Fish :)

I could make these little fish cards all day long! I love the bright colors! The sparkle in real life is awesome with the glitters and embossing.

I stamped the Seaweed in Chalk Ink so it's real light. If you click on the pics you can see it better. Paper tearing for the ocean floor and then added chunky glitter with 2-way glue pen. The fish are stamped with black on white cardstock and colored in with markers and Spica Glitter Pens. After cutting each fish out, I covered the entire surface with Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder. 1 fish (the one on the bottom) is popped up on dimensional. The entire scalloped circle is also popped up on dimensionals. The doodling around the circle and the tag I did by hand. Sponge dabber used to sponge around edges of
pieces with SU Taken With Teal Classic Ink. I need more of that Teal CS! LOVE that color!

I just love how this card turned out. And it's already in the mail to it's new home :)

With Enough Caffeine Anything Is Possible!

Super Crab!

More A-MUSE-A-PALOOZA Fun! This card was made for Elena's "Out of the Box" Challenge.

That Little Crab is really strong to be able to hold up that huge To Go Cup of coffee!! I put a little sparkle on him with a Clear Spica Glitter Pen. If you click on the pic and get a closer look...you can see it and see that I used my Inkssentials White Opaque Pen and put dots his eyes. The sand stamp is from StampinUP set It's a Shore Thing. I used my Aquapainter with SU Creamy Caramel Classic ink to color the sand. Dots of the Clear Spica Glitter Pen around the ground for some added shine.

The sentiment and coffee beans are from an A Muse clear set called Coffee Break. Dots under the sentiment are done by hand with brown marker then topped with Clear Spica Pen. I'm really lovin' my coffee stamps ;)

Recipe:
Stamps:
A Muse Art Stamps - Tiny Crab, To Go Cup, Coffee Break Set, SU - It's A Shore Thing

Twinkle-Time Challenge

Even more A-MUSE-A-PALOOZA fun with my To Go Cup. This card was made for Taylor's Twinkle-Time Challenge.

I used several A Muse stamps to create my card. The sentiment is from a clear set called Coffee Break. The outlined frame is from a clear set called Cowboy Frames. The red Oval stamp under the To Go Cup is also from A Muse. Do you see all the Twinkle in the corners of the frame! The silver cord tied at the top added even more Twinkle! I made the scalloped strip on the top with the Slit Punch from Stampin'UP! The layer under the sentiment - I punched the edges with a scalloped corner punch. Then I sponged around the edge of the sentiment which was punched out with SU Word Window Punch.

One right out of the book!

SU Copycat

I made this card for my grandson James. If you turn to page 71 in the Stampin'UP Spring-Summer 2008 Catalog you will see where I copied it from. Sometimes I forget about all the wonderful ideas that are in the catty. So for this card I decided to give my brain a rest and get a card right out of the book! Can't get any easier than that :) And it's totally cute! I cut out all the shapes and attached with dimensionals except the tree trunks. The white spots are stamped with Versamark and embossed with White Embossing Powder. For the 4 I glued Real Red on a piece of chipboard and ran it through my die cut machine.

Happy Father's Day!

Goodies for my Dad :)

Truck stamp is from Printworks. I stamped with Black Stazon on watercolor paper. Colored with Aquapainter and a few different inks (watercolor crayons, watercolor pencils, SU Classic Inks). The ground speckles is also a stamp from Printworks. Stamped "dad" on truck with alphabet set from CTMH. Card base is Stampin'UP! Naturals White. All the rest of the paper and Cardstock is from CTMH. Corners punched with SU Ticket Corner. Used Exacto knife to cut slit for tag. Sponged brown ink around edges.

Tag stamp is from Printworks. Tag punched from Marvy Uchida punch. Used the ground speckle stamp and lightly stamped all over the tag then sponged brown around the edges.

When I was a kid...my dad used to take the family to the lake all the time. It seemed every weekend during the summer we were having a blast on the boat. Water skiing was always part of the fun. So when I found this postcard...it immediately took me back to those days. My brother and I have lots of wonderful "funny" memories of back in the day! ha! Like I said...this is a postcard...not a real family pic :)

The page is 6x6. I used CTMH Paper and Cardstock. DAD chipboard letters from Unique Pages and I sponged brown ink all on the edged and surface. Family dangle is from CTMH. I cut a piece of cardstock and used Crystal Effects to attach it. I also smeared white chalk over the top so the etched letters would stand out more.

Family dangle is from CTMH. I cut a piece of cardstock and used Crystal Effects to attach it. I also smeared white chalk over the top so the etched letters would stand out more. Photo stamped with Canvas Background from Stampin'UP! and punched with Photo Corners punch. the strip behind DAD is also stamped with Canvas Background. The DAD brad is from Karen Foster. It was actually a brighter green color so I used a Sharpie marker to color in darker to match.

I Remember When... is a stamp from CTMH. Stamped and also sponged around edges and all over lightly. Then I used VersaMark pad and inked up the entire piece. Embossed with Thick Clear Embossing Powder about 6 times. When completely cooled I cracked in a few places. I think this is called Paper Crackling or Emboss Crackling? Something like that. I'm sure there's a tutorial on SCS somewhere.

I put the page in Picture It Pageframe and used twine to hang. These frames are really cool! They come in several sizes perfect for scrapbook layouts. I found these at a local scrapbook store.

As you can see...these frames allow plenty of space for dimensionals and embellishments! You can easily slide the page in and out which means you can change the pages often with ease. It's also a great way to display a beautiful card!

. Patterned paper is from one of those huge paper packs. The flowers down the side are from A Muse - Circle Frames set. The sentiment is also from A Muse.

Oh the joys of living
in the Arizona Desert! This NASTY creature was waiting for me when I went to go brush my teeth the other morning!! I FREAKED OUT!! I ran out and got bug spray and proceeded to drown this creature. I slowed it down enough to take pictures -- ha ha ha -- but it DID NOT KILL THE BEAST! So after my photo opportunity...it took all I had in me to smoosh this huge intruder -- NASTY!! My skin gets all bumpy looking at the pictures! So how many of you want to come to Arizona NOW! This thing was HUGE! I'm posting these pics small so they don't totally frighten you! LOL But...if you REALLY want to see it closer...click on the pics! The 2nd pic is a closeup. The 3rd pic is my revenge!

More Mommy/Daughter Fun!

A-MUSE-A-PALOOZA Design Challenge #1

Michaela and I each did a card for A-Muse-a-Palooza 2008 Design Challenge #1. This challenge is a color combo and the colors to use are Chocolate Kitchen, Cabana Blue, and Purple Passion (or similar colors if you don't have these.) The card must feature at least 1 A Muse stamp image.

More details on A-Muse-a Palooza and this challenge can be found HERE.

For my 5 x 5 card I used 2 clear sets from A Muse. Coffee Break and Circle Frames. I created the background by stamping spoons with black and coloring in with Lilac Prisma Marker. Then I stamped the Coffee beans with SU Close to Cocoa Classic. Coffee Cup is samped on white 2x. Colored in both and cut out 1 and attached it on top with dimensional. Purple circle with sentiment is popped up on dimensionals. Spoon samped on white and cut out.

Recipe:
Stamps - A Muse Art Stamps - Coffee Break & Circle Frames
Paper - SU Lavender Lace CS, SU Creamy Caramel CS, SU Bliss Blue CS, Neenah White CS
Ink - Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black, SU Close to Cocoa Classic
Misc - Prismacolor Markers, Marvy Uchida Circle Punches; Dimensionals

Michaela used a clear sets from A Muse called Animal Wishes. Water is stamped using Brilliance Peacock ink pad. On her 5x3 1/2 Cardbase she scored a couple lines down the right side (yes I taught her how to use the Scor-It board!) Elephants stamped with black. She colored 1 elephant with Copic Cool Gray 1 and the other she used a silver pen. Both have pink toe nails (of course!) and the girl has a pink bow. Check out how she used the silver pen to draw splashes from their trunks. Sentiment stamped with black and punched with SU Oval Punches - attached with dimensional. She finished off by adding the required brown color with a bow in the corner. I'm so proud of my little stamping companion! :)

Recipe:
Stamps - A Muse Art Stamps - Animal Wishes and Small Oval

Bridal Shower Invites

Quick & Easy

Don't you just love those 2 words - Quick & Easy. Sometimes card making for me isn't quick or easy -- but it was for this project. My daughter called me up and said she needed bridal shower invitations for her sister-in-law ASAP. Right away I thought of my dress stamp from Great Impressions. Since my mind was in "Think simple. Think A Muse", mode I was able to have a sample card made up, picture taken and emailed her a sample in less than 30 minutes!

I stamped the dress with Versamark and heat embossed with Bridal embossing glitter. Cut out and attached to pink and brown layer with dimensionals. I found this really cool cardstock the other day from Doodlebug. It's called Crushed Velvet. This stuff is awesome. It punches out perfect with hand punches! I got it at a LSS and it was $1.99 for 1 piece of 12x12. You know how many flowers I can punch out of that sheet!! I punched holes in the center of the flower. Tied a piece of ribbon in a knot and threaded both ends of the ribbon through the hole to the back. I like how the knot on top of the flower turned out that way. Attached to dress with red sticky strip. Makes it "mail friendly" :)

Recipe:
Stamps - Great Impressions Silhouette Dress; Stampin'UP! Sincere Salutations
Paper - Bazzill Brown CS; Misc Pink CS; GP Image PlusWhite CS; Doodlebug Crushed Velvet Paper
Inks - Versamark; SU Classic Brown
Misc. - Bridal Embossing Glitter; Marvy Uchida Small Flower Punnch; Small Corner Rounder punch; Misc Ribbon; Dimensionals; small circle punch.

Now that there's easy...I don't care who ya are! :) LOL

A Muse by the Dozen

Think simple. Think A Muse.

Have you ever heard that saying? If you're answer is "yes" then you know all about A Muse Art Stamps. If you haven't ever heard of seen A Muse stamps...then go check them out. A Muse products are designed as a collection. With these stamp you can create cards quickly and easily.

A little over a year ago my granddaughter was born and my daughter and I made birth announcements. We had gone to a local stamp store (Stamp Works) to look for ideas and find a stamp. My daughter decided on a stamp called ABC mobil from A Muse. At the time we had NO idea about A Muse stamps, she just pick it because there was a sample in the store using that stamp that was super cute, yet totally simple. Take a look at the birth announcement here. (excuse the poor photography) It was from that project we started really looking at all the cute stamps from A Muse.

OK.....now that I have explained how I got started using these stamps...take a look at some of my recent creations. Remember - you can be as simple or as elaborate as you like. You can apply the A Muse style to any creations with any stamp! :)

Don't forget to click on the pics if you want to see them in larger detail.

Details:
All stamps used are A Muse and a few from Stampin'UP! Various inks from SU, Ranger Adirondack, Tsukineko Memento, Colorbox. Various Cardstock and Papers. Chiffon Orange Notecards from A Muse. Various markers from SU, Prismacolor, Copic. Misc punches from Marvy Uchida, SU, EK Success, Spellbinders. SU detail clear embossing powder. Other misc items used - Brass Stencil, Crystal Effects, Dimensionals. Paper piecing, heat embossing, dry embossing.

What ya think? Now I need to get them in the mail to their new owners.
