Spectrum Noir March Challenge

We have an ANYTHING GOES challenge for you over at Spectrum Noir. Check it out:

Here's the bonus sketch to inspire you. The challenge is your choice...Anything Goes or the optional Sketch. Get all the challenge and prize details HERE. The only thing we ask is that you use Spectrum Noir coloring products on your project. Simple :)

I colored this absolutely ADORABLE image from My Favorite Things, using Spectrum Noir AquaBlend Watercolor Pencils: Apricot, Coral, Ginger, Grapefruit, Dove Grey, Dark Slate, Charcoal Brown, Sorrel, Parakeet, Bottle Green, Beeswax, Mango, Regal Blue, Aegean Blue, Chrome Orange and Dandelion

What a cute little Spring scene :) This card is sure to brighten a friends day. I die-cut the circle from Spectrum Aqua Watercolour cardstock using my MFT Cross-Stitch Circle STAX Die Set. Then I stamped the main image and "Hello" sentiment with black ink. Next I colored with the AquaBlend watercolor pencils and blended with a watercolor brush.

The bunny and chick are stamped on a scrap of watercolor cardstock, then colored, trimmed and adhered with dimensional foam adhesive. For the chick, I also inked up just the feet on the stamp and then stamped onto the circle panel. When I trimmed out the chick, I just cut off the feet. It's way easier that way...not to mention the added dimension.

I hope you have some crafty time this month to join our fun challenge. Make sure to enter your work for a chance to win £30/$30 in Spectrum Noir goodies here: March Spectrum Noir Challenge

Fab 60's Watercolor

Here's another card I created using the brand new Sheena Douglass Groovin' 60's collection from Crafter's Companion.

Everything is watercolored with Spectrum Noir AquaBlend Watercolor Pencils. As you can see, these pencil colors are super rich and vibrant! Fab...right?!

  • Background - Sky Blue, Regal Blue
  • Skin - Apricot, Coral, Sorrel
  • Hair - Beeswax, Sorrel
  • Lips - Watermelon, Strawberry
  • Hat & Gemstone - Petunia, Anthracite
  • Hat Band & Jacket - Kiwi, Cypress

I made the card base from Spectrum Aqua Watercolour Cardstock, as well as the additional cut out pieces.  Everything is stamped and heat embossed. The flowers have glitter glue in the centers.

To make the heart, I brushed anti-static powder on a small piece of watercolor cardstock, placed the Groovy Flower Power Stencil on top and dabbed black pigment ink only in the dashed areas of the heart. After lifting off the stencil, I heat embossed in clear. Next, I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment in the center. To finish, I trimmed out and attached to card with dimensional foam adhesive.

Spectrum Noir Colorista is COMING!

Hey friends. Have you seen the latest Crafter's Companion and Spectrum Noir news. We are soooo excited!!! This is BIG I tell ya!

OK...so check it out. Adult coloring is HUGE all over the world, and it's here to stay! We can't wait for you to see...better yet...get your hands on the new Spectrum Noir Colorista products coming later this month. Adult coloring at it's finest. And it doesn't matter what level of coloring you are at...this is for EVERYONE. Trust me....you're gonna LOVE IT ALL. And that translates into WANT IT ALL. NEED IT ALL. GET IT ALL.

Mark your calendars for the world launch of Spectrum Noir Colorista on HSN with Sara Davies Tuesday, August 30th.

In the meantime...you can get started coloring with the NEW Spectrum Noir Coloring Background Stamps. You will be able to purchase them over at Crafter's Companion.

Here's something I colored up with the Beautiful Butterfly Background Stamp.

These stamps are perfectly sized for A2 cards. I trimmed down my finished panel and layered it on white, then adhered to an A2 card front. The sentiment is from Crafter's Companion Textures Artist Collection Words of Wonder - Set 1. I stamped it in gold on yellow cardstock.

I stamped on Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock with Black StazOn Ink. Then I colored with Spectrum Noir AquaBlend watercolor pencils and a waterbrush. Once I was finished coloring, and it was dry, I added Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Pen on the butterflies.

The fun part of coloring these types of images - or any adult coloring book images - is that you don't have to rush. It's a relaxing process. Take your time and enjoying it. I snapped a few pictures during my coloring process. It's cool to look back and see the progress.

Another thing I did, for added interest and dimension, is used a craft knife to cut a portion of the large wing, then popped some dimensional foam adhesive underneath.

I really enjoyed coloring this "adult coloring" style image. I'm just a beginner, so if I can do it...anyone can. Check out all the "Colorista" inspiration on our Pinterest Board. Wowzers! Loads of amazing colored samples by our design team. They will knock your socks off!

Stay up to date on all the latest news:

Pastel Pencil Wash

Have you played the April Pastel Color Challenge over at Spectrum Noir? I hope so! We have so many great entries.

For my "pastel color" design, I created a pastel rainbow watercolor wash background. To do this, I used the new Spectrum Noir AquaBlend Watercolor Pencils on woodgrain textured cardstock. Super duper easy! I lightly scribbled each color on the textured cardstock, then used a waterbrush to blend it out.

Pencil colors: Primrose, Papaya, Soft Red, Violet, Sky Blue, Aqua, Bamboo, Kiwi

The tag is stamped with a sentiment from My Favorite Things Chalkboard Greetings Stamp Set. I love what it says! It's stamped with Versamark and heat embossed in white.

Get all the April Pastel Color Challenge details and enter your design HERE.

Have a creative day!

TODAY on HSN

Hello everyone! Today's the day! Sara Davis is on the HSN Show with oodles of great products from Crafter's Companion USA and Spectrum Noir!  Click HERE to see the schedule and other details.

One of the fantastic new MUST HAVE items on the show is the fantastic Spectrum Noir AquaBlend Watercolor Pencils. Seriously...these pencils ROCK! I colored this with 'em...

I stamped and heat emboss the Magnolia Blossom from Sheena A Little Bit Floral collection with gold embossing powder on Spectrum Noir Watercolor Cardstock. Then I watercolored the flowers and background with Spectrum Noir AquaBlend watercolor pencils from the Naturals set (Lagoon, Aqua, Jungle Green, Oregano, Bison) and Primaries set (Claret, Carmine).

After it was completely dry, I stamped in the background using Delicata Golden Glitz Ink. The little flowers were stamped and embossed in gold, trimmed and adhered.

I also used the Edge'ables Only Words Die - For My Special Friend. To create the gold shimmer behind the cut out letters, I inked a strip of white cardstock with the Golden Glitz ink and adhered to the back.

Card base is made from Crafter's Companion Rose Pearl Shimmering Cardstock. I think this card turned out absolutely stunning.

I know you're gonna love these new Spectrum Noir AquaBlend watercolor pencils. They make coloring fun and easy :)

Enjoy the show!

NEW Spectrum Noir Watercolor Pencils

Bonjour my crafty friends. I have EXCITING NEWS! Spectrum Noir is coming out with some brand new Spectrum Noir AquaBlend Watercolor Pencils! Sara Davies, the founder Crafter's Companion will debut them March 16th on HSN - Home Shopping Network.

LUCKY ME :) I'm on the design team...so I already got these babies in my hands. Let me tell ya...they are fab! Check out how rich and vibrant the colors are...

Are ya droolin'....like me?!!! Spectrum Noir AquaBlend Watercolor Pencils are loaded with high-quality artist’s grade pigment, which gives a smooth laydown of color. And because they are water soluble, you can create brilliant watercolor effects using a brush and water. Seriously...these pencils are amazing!

The stamp set I used is Sheena A Little Bit Scenic French 50's Cafe. It's a GREAT set! So many fun images that can be used to make a little scene...or use them individually for more of a clean and simple design. I LOVE sets that are so versatile like that.

I stamped the building on Spectrum Noir Watercolor Cardstock. It's a nice bright white paper. You need it too ;) After I colored the building, I stamped and colored the woman walking the dog. The tree and flowers were stamped on scrap pieces of watercolor cardstock - colored & fussy cut.

TIP: To give the building the appearance of being further back in the background, I stamped with a lighter ink color.

Make sure to mark your calendar for the HSN Show on March 16th. It will be a fun day of crafting, inspiration and shopping!
