Snowflakes are Winter's Butterflies

Happy Friday!

We have a new challenge over at Crafter's Companion USA. This month our theme is Christmas/Winter. Click HERE to get all the details

My card base is Kraft Cardstock with a piece of paper on the front from the Vintage Christmas Collection 6" x 6" Paper Pack. I did sponge the edges Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.

I used a stamp from Crafter's Companion Art-Kure Collection called Spruce Tree. This stamps can be used for any season! I stamped on white cardstock and watercolored with Ranger Distress Markers. Then I added some shimmer with Clear Rock Candy Distress Stickles. Once that dried, I flicked on some white pigment ink spray. The results were exactly how I wanted!

The sentiment is from The Vintage Christmas Sentimentals Let It Snow stamp set. I stamped it on clear acetate with Claret StazOn Midi Ink -- then heat embossed with Clear EP. I folded the ends of the strip to the back of the images panel to secure. Then I layered it on a piece of the beautiful Shimmering Black Pearl Cardstock from that I scalloped one edge with a border punch. The entire panel is adhered to card front with dimensional foam adhesive. A few crystal rhinestones and a butterfly punched out of the black pearl cardstock were the finishing touches.

Thanks for stopping by today. Don't forget to share your Christmas/Winter creations on the Facebook Challenge Page! Remember...you DON'T need to use Crafter's Companion products to be entered in the giveaway.

Yosemite Winter Wonderland

Here's another card I made using the Yosemite Cabin stamp from the NEW Crafter's Companion Art-Kure US Landmarks Collection.

I watercolored with Distress Markers -- then added accents of snow using Snow Glitter, Crystal Glitter and Polar Ice FlowerSoft. I punched out a circle from Crafter's Companion Black Pearl Shimmering Cardstock to make a faux button. The "button" is adhered with Double Sided Foam Adhesive to the left flap. The end of the right flap tucks under the edge of the button.

Open the flaps to reveal the full scene. The sentiment is from Crafter's Companion Vintage Collection Christmas Sentimentals - Let It Snow set. I stamped the sentiment on a strip of the Black Pearl Shimmering Cardstock using Versamark ink -- then heat embossed with white embossing powder.

I seriously want to spend Christmas at this cabin! Doesn't it look so peaceful and relaxing :)

Card Base Tutorial
The finished card size is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" (standard A2 size)
Here's how to make the card base:

Score a 10 3/4" x 5 1/2" piece of cardstock at 3 1/4" and again at 7 1/2".
I use colored cardstock that is white on the back.

Hand-cut the bottom flaps to the score lines.

Fold in the flaps.

Trim off the top side panels. I used a paper cutter, making sure to keep the folded flaps out of the way of the cutting blade. If you prefer, you could do this with scissors by cutting along the scored line.

Your card base is now ready to decorate.

Happy Stamping!

Christmas Time at Yosemite Cabin

Crafter's Companion USA will soon be releasing more beautiful images in the Art-Kure
Collection
. Until then...here's a sneak peek:

This new image - Yosemite Cabin - is part of the New US Landmark series that's coming. I gave a go at watercoloring the image with Distress Markers. This was my first time ever to color an image like this. I wasn't really sure how it would turn out. But...I'm giving myself a pat on the back...I think it turned out pretty good. :)

I added accents of Clear Rock Candy Distress Stickles. When that dried, I flicked on some white pigment ink spray. THAT turned out really cool!

The entire piece is mounted on a sheet from a beautiful piece of designer paper from the Crafter's Companion Vintage Christmas Collection 6" x 6" Paper Pack. I trimed it down to perfectly fit on a  6" x 6" sheet of Candy Red Shimmering Cardstock. LOVE my Shimmering CS! Look at that gorgeous subtle shimmer! The entire panel is adhered to white 6" x 6"card base.

A clear button tied with red twine...a few scattered red pearls....and it's done.

Thanks for stoppin' by!
