Spectember Day 10 with Spectrum Noir

Hi friends!

We are in Week 2 of  Spectember over at Spectrum Noir  - "Messy Crafting"
The focus is on Sparkle Pens, Metallic Markers, Midas Ink Pads and Alcohol Inks.

If you are NOT a messy crafter...NO WORRIES!  I'm a clean and simple fan. Messy is not my thang ;) But here I am! TADA! Ha! I did some Clean and Simple Messy. Yep...it can be done! I decided to create with one of my FAVORITE products...Sparkle Pens!
Today is Day 10 of our event and the theme is EMBOSSING.

Since Sparkle Pens are great for watercoloring, I jumped in with the perfect combination... Embossing and Watercoloring! I only used 2 colors of Sparkle Pens, Deepest Ocean and Sunshine Yellow.

I created a unique color blend on the starfish by "lifting" some of the Deepest Ocean Sparkle Marker ink from the surface of a the watercolor paper, then coloring over with the Sunshine Yellow Sparkle Marker. Super easy and FUN results!

FIN-TASTIC DAY!

Hi again! I've got another fun mermaid image to share from the Fresh Brewed Designs Digi Release this week. This one is a CAS design. A classic layout that I use often.

This image is called Drema - Mermaid. It's one of my fav's from the new release. I colored with Spectrum Noir Markers and then colored Sheer Shimmer Spritz on top of some areas:

Skin - FS2, FS4
Lips - CR4 (Sparkle Sheer Shimmer Spritz)
Tail - IB1, IB2, IB3 (Frost Sheer Shimmer Spritz)
Hair - LY1, GB4, GB8 (Gold and Sparkle Sheer Shimmer Spritz)
Coral - CR1, CR10, CR9, FL3
Sand - EB1, Blender
Water - IB1, Blender
Water bubbles - IB2, IB1, Blender (Frost Sheer Shimmer Spritz)

I added Dry Rock Candy glitter on the sand and Glossy Accents (sprinkled with a little Dry Rock Candy on top ) on the coral and starfish.  To make the water bubbles, I put down a dot of marker IB2 - then touched on top of that with IB1 - the touched down (for a little longer) with the Blender marker. Added a touch of Frost Sheer Shimmer Spritz and topped off with Glossy Accents.

The image panel is foam mounted to Crafter's Companion Black Pearl Shimmering Cardstock -- them foam mounted to Gold Dust Shimmering Cardstock. This cardstock is beautiful! Some sequins and embossed sentiment (retired from A Muse Artstamps) finished off the card.

Isn't this merman dude absolutely HILARIOUS!

What really put me in stitches was using that sentiment!!! heee HEEE!! HELLO!  And...yes...it was hard to color his round belly...'cause I was laughin' the entire time! His name is Merlin. He's another NEW Fresh Brewed Designs digi image from the release on Monday.

I colored everything with my Spectrum Noir Markers. I think he turned out pretty darn special! ;) Here's the colors I used to bring out all his "best" features:

Skin - FS2, FS3, FS4, TN3
Hair - CT1, CT4, GB5, GB9
Tail/Fin/whatever - CG1, CG3, CG4, GG1
Sun - CT1, CT3
Clouds - IB1
Tiny heart hanging from cloud - TB1, TB4

Since Merlin hangs out in the water most of the time, shine & shimmer were a must! I painted his entire tail with Sparkle Sheer Shimmer Spritz. Next, I colored over it with my trusty ol' Versamark Pen -- then heat embossed with clear  embossing powder. I also added touches of the shimmer sparkle to his hair and eyes.  The sun and waves borders I added colored glitter.

I'm really happy with how the card turned out. The layout is from Splitcoaststampers.com Sketch Challenge SC499.
