May 2016 Calendar Page

OOPS! I totally forgot to post my May Calendar Page. Oh well...at least it's still May! LOL

This is a month that I always think of super bright and colorful flowers. I used stamps from the Floral Delight stamp set form Crafter's Companion.

The images are first colored with Spectrum Noir Markers, then colored over with Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens. Don't those sparkle pens really jazz up the flowers?! I just love 'em!

  • Pink Flower - PP2, PP5, PP6, CT3, IB1, IB2, Rose Quartz, Moonlight, Moonstone
  • Blue Flower - IB1, IB2, IB3, LV1, PL1, Blue Topaz, Moonstone, Crystal Clear
  • Purple Flower - LV1, PL1, IB2, CT2, CT3, Crystal Clear, Moonlight, Moonstone
  • Green Leaves - CG1, CG3, Crystal Clear

NEW Spectrum Noir Vintage Sparkle Pens

I'm IN LOVE with the BRAND NEW Spectrum Noir Vintage Colors Sparkle Pens. 12 beautiful new colors in 4 new sets. You can see them and shop on the Crafter's Companion website.

I watercolored this project using the new Sparkle Pens.

AMAZING...RIGHT?! I used Sea Breeze, Teacup, Biscuit, Sage, and Macaroon from the Vintage Tea, Vintage Bloom, and Vintage Beach sets.

The stamps are from the Crafter's Companion Floral Delight set. I stamped the flower and leaves with very light colors of Distress Inks on Spectrum Aqua Watercolour Cardstock. The reason I stamped with light distress ink is because I didn't want the stamp lines to show. Distress inks also blend with water, so they faded out even more when I painted over with the Sparkle Pens.

Check out the sparkle!!! WOW! Seriously...I could watercolor with Sparkle Pens all day long!

Watercoloring Tip
To keep each individual section of the image from blending into the next, watercolor sections that do not touch each other. Wait for it to dry before painting areas next to it.  For instance, watercolor both leaves, but not the stem. Wait for the leaves to dry (or speed dry with a heat gun). After they are dry, you can paint the stem. When I did this panel, I watercolored the entire background first. After it was dry, I moved on to the flower.

Floral Delight Scrapbook Page

Guess what! We have ANOTHER exciting product being released over at Crafter's Companion USA! Some of the elements from the Floral Delight Signature Collection by Sara Davies will be available today (Friday April 22, 2016). Here's a peek of some of the goodies on my 8" x 8" scrapbook page:

I used the new 6" x 6" Floral Delight Paper Pad on my layout. The papers in this pad are so purrrrdy! I backed the sentiment border die (Crafter's Companion Edg'ables Only Words Die - On Your Special Day) with a piece of the Floral Delight paper. I also used the new Floral Delight Ornate Trellis Die. This is one of those dies that I will be using over and over again. The white flowers are diecut using the new Floral Delight In Bloom Die Set. I love the embossed detail!

Color Tinting Photos with Spectrum Noir:
This is a FUN technique to try. I added color to both the black & white pictures on my scrapbook page using a couple Spectrum Noir Markers. Check out my tutorial along with a bunch of coloring tips over on the Crafter's Companion Blog and Spectrum Noir Blog.

Spectrum Noir Marker Tips and Tricks:
Spectrum Noir Markers are fantastic for altering embellishments to make them match any project you are designing.  Here's a sample of some pink pearls, clear rhinestones and white buttons that I altered with markers. The buttons on top of each flower on my scrapbook page were colored this way. They turned out so cool!

Sparkle Pen Stamping and Watercoloring

Hey there! I wanted to share another great way to use those fabulous Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens. Check this out...

I painted the pens directly onto the Crafter's Companion Floral Delight stamp...then "huffed" on to re-moisten the ink...then stamped on Spectrum Aqua Extra White Watercolor Cardstock. On the flower I used Red Berry. For the stem and center for the flower I used Olive Jade. After stamping, I used a watercolor brush to "pull" color from the stamped image to watercolor it.

Tip: If you are coloring the stamped image, and you don't seem to have enough color, just scribble the Sparkle Pen on a craft mat or acrylic block. Then pick up more color from the that to add to your stamped image. Easy peasy!

See the beautiful sparkle! LOVE! I really love this card design. The big bold flower and bold sentiment take center stage. Pure CAS baby!
