Giddyup

Good morning crafty friends! I hope your weekend was full of fun. I got out my Spectrum Noir Colored Pencils and had a great time coloring this House-Mouse image...

I found THIS tutorial over on the Spectrum Noir Blog that I wanted to share. It shows how to create a soft focus on your image, which will make it "pop" and stand out, and how to ground your image. In the tutorial, Lis shows you how to do this using Spectrum Noir Markers.  I'm did the same thing using Spectrum Noir Blendable Colored Pencils. Same great results!

The pencils I used along with blending solution and paper stumps:
  • Soft Focus 061, 068
  • Ground 113, 104

Without adding this shading, the image would just look flat on the paper. This technique gives the image life...as if it's actually lifted off the page!

See how great it looks! That mouse is ready to jump right off the card! LOL! I added a little googly eye for even more movement and fun. I also wanted to color over the frog with my clear gel pen...but I couldn't get that sucker to work for nuttin'! UUUGH! For the sentiment I stamped little mouse foot prints and heat embossed the sentiment in white.

This technique, and many many other great ideas are available on the Spectrum Noir Blog.

Here's the other pencils I used to color with:
  • Mouse Skin 005, 009
  • Mouse Fur 087, 103
  • Frog 044, 058, 059
  • Turn Key 112, 117

Also, if you're a House-Mouse fan, don't forget to check out the current challenge we have going on right now over at the House-Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge Blog - Make it Masculine. I made my card "dude" friendly ;) Well...OK...I did add a couple rhinestones.
He's just gonna have to deal with it.  hahahaha

Have a ribiting good day!
