Playing with my new stuff

Stampin' UP! has TONS of awesome new stamps and accessories. You have got to see this new Fall-Winter Collection 2007 catalog! My wish list is simple....1 of everything :)

Well.... I just HAD to get a few new items to play with. I've got all my new stamp sets cut out and mounted! That's fun in itself....cause the entire time I'm cutting...I'm also thinking of what I can do with each stamp!!

This 5" x 5" card is just the beginning of MANY paper crafting projects I plan on creating with my new products. I LOVE the new Pick a Petal stamp set which I used on the card below. The scalloped circle is punched with SU's new Scalloped Circle Punch! Way COOL!! The happy circle stamp is from a new set called It's All Good.

Instructions:

-Cut 5" x 10" piece of Tempting Turquoise cardstock and score in half.

-Using Versamark ink pad (or Versamark marker works great too), ink up the word Birthday on the Birthday Wishes stamp from the Sincere Salutations set (or any stamp you like.) Stamp on lower right corner of card base and sprinkle with Detail Embossing Power (I used white.) Heat set with embossing gun.

-Cut 1 3/4" x 5" strip of Ruby Red cardstock.

-Cut 1" x 5" strip of Certainly Celery cardstock and stamp with stamp from Itty Bitty Backgrounds in Certainly Celery Classic Ink.

-Tie a piece of ribbon around strip and adhere to Ruby Red strip. Adhere to card base.

-Stamp Petals from Pick a Petal stamp set with Ruby Red Classic Ink on Very Vanilla cardstock for the large flower. Cut out.

-Punch a piece of Ruby Red cardstock usingScalloped Circle Punch. Place face up on a piece of scrap paper. Using the Versamark ink pad, dab ink onto the scalloped circle until it's covered. Sprinkle Heat & Stick Powder all over piece and heat with embossing gun as instructed on jar. Holding the piece with tweezers will make it easier to heat and not burn your fingers! Sprinkle Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter all over piece and heat set.

-Stamp happy circle from theIt's All Good set on Very Vanilla cardstock with Tempting Turquoise Classic Ink. Punch out image with1 1/4" Circle Punch.

-Adhere happy circle and scalloped circle to large flower. Adhere to card base using Stampin' Dimensionals.

-Stamp small flowers from stamp in the Pick a Petal set on Very Vanilla cardstock with Tempting Turquoise Classic Ink. Cut out and attach silver brads. Adhere to card base with Sticky Strip.

Stand back and admire your work!

TIPS:
  • You can use Embossing Ink instead of Versamark ink.
  • Try different petal stamps for variety.
  • Use Craft ink for bolder colors (allow to dry before handling or heat set with embossing gun to dry quicker.)
  • Use Craft Ink for Birthday stamp in color of your choice and emboss with Clear Embossing Powder. White Craft ink embossed with Clear Embossing Powder will not show up well.

***IMPORTANT NOTICE*** There is quality issue with the Scalloped Punch from Stampin' UP! Seems that most of them are defective. :( They work for a few punches and then fail. Stampin' UP! is working on this and will replace the punches when resolved. If you have one of these defective punches, please contact the SU Demonstrator that you purchased it from for an exchange.

I love this card Lori! The glittered scalloped circle looks awesome in the center of your petal prints flower. Thanks for the inspiration!
