Are you taking care of those candles?

Proper Candle Care is Important!
If you burn Gold Canyon Candles - or any candles for that matter, you need to read this information!

Preserving perfect candles is made easier with tools of the trade that include lighting, extinguishing, trimming and clean-up. Proper care means longer-lasting candles that remain in perfect condition and add beauty to your home. Reduce smoke and soot, keep a clean and even burn and extend the life of your candle by utilizing these simple tools.

Do your candle jars ever turn black on the inside?
Can you tell which candle has been properly maintained? Not once did I have black soot on the inside of my jar for the red candle because I kept the wicks trimmed at 1/4"! It does make a difference!

Black jars can be caused by a number of reasons. For example, untrimmed wicks can turn the jars black. Burning a candle in a draft or near or below a fan can cause the candle to burn unevenly and create black soot on the jar.

To reduce smoking or sooting, keep wicks trimmed to 1/4 inch at all times, including each time the candle is relit. Do not drop foreign matter or wick trimmings into candle. Burn long enough to liquefy the entire top layer of wax, not to exceed 4 hours. Handle carefully, glass will become hot during use. Discontinue use when 1/2 inch of wax remains.

Preserve your candle’s burn time and maintain its beauty with Gold Canyons stainless steel trimmer with engraved detailed accents. This easy-to-use trimmer allows you to evenly cut your wick to the proper 1/4” before each burn rather than awkwardly using scissors. The debris tray conveniently catches wick trimmings for a clean, effortless trim.

The coiled swirl adds a playful touch and adds character resting next to any candle waiting to be extinguished. To extinguish, simply use the hook to lower the wick in and out of the liquefied wax. With the divot on the handle, the dipper can rest next to the candle without messy wax touching the surface. Made from metal with a black finish. 2 other styles of wick dippers are available. See all the candle products on-line
here.

It was hard to get a good picture through a glass jar, so I took this picture demonstrating the snippers on a Gold Canyon Pillar.

See how it perfectly trims at the recommended 1/4" mark and catches the trimmings! Also, look how they work to reach in the jars! Try to do that with a pair or scissors! :)

Do you see smoke when you are burning your candle?

Trim wicks to 1/4 inch. When candle wicks are too long, the candle creates excessive smoke, turning the jar black. Also, the long wicks may create too much heat on the glass without wax, potentially causing the glass to shatter.

When you extinguish your candle are you left with a bunch of smoke and the smell of smoke rather than the scent you were just burning?

Use a wick dipper, rather than blowing out or smothering the flame with the lid. Using a wick dipper extinguishes the flame without residual smoke and coats the wick with enough wax,
making it easier to light the next time.

Some interesting information you may not be aware of.

Gold Canyon uses zinc core wicks in their jar candles that are made in the U.S.A. with a safety collar on the 26 oz. and 16 oz. sizes that extinguishes itself at the appropriate level
The 26 oz., 16 oz., and 8 oz. sizes contain two wicks for a cleaner, more complete burn.

Discontinue burning when 1/2 inch of wax remains at the bottom of the jar. (Gold Canyon has factored this 1/2 inch of wax into our burn time calculations and candle volume measurements.) Burning the candle below 1/2 inch can cause excessive heat on the glass, potentially causing the glass to shatter.

Protect the surfaces of tabletops and shelves with candleholders. Not only do the holders
protect the surface underneath the candle, but they also add a certain ambience.

Never pick up candles by the lid. The best way to pick up a candle is to place one hand around the neck of the jar, while the other hand supports the bottom of the jar.

Read the bottom label of the candles. The instructions are placed there as a precaution for burning candles.
Please always remember a lit candle is fire.
Never burn candles unattended.
Keep out of reach of children and pets.
